Tatenhill Airfield is licensed "special category" which allows the training of Pilots to take place.

Pilot Training

We can offer Private Pilot Licence training through to imc and night ratings. We currently have five instructors; three are BX Examiners so there is no need to travel elsewhere to take the final flight tests. The Radiotelephony Examination can also be taken on site.  Our Chief Flying Instructor is also a Air/Ground Examiner for the Radiotelephony Certificate of Competence.

PPL training is carried out 9-5pm daily except bank holidays, in our Cessna 152 aircraft, and costs from £103/hour inc. VAT. Briefings are free, ground school is £20/hour. The Practical Radio examination is £60.

Night renewals are available as well as tail dragger conversions and aero's on the Decathlon. Complex conversions on the Comanche but to experienced pilots only.

 

East Staffordshire Flying Club

Membership is £50 per year. Membership allows Tatenhill-based aircraft with a member on board, free landings at the following airfields:-

During the year the club organises various events including a 'Fly-Out', Christmas Dinner, BBQ's and CAA Safety Evenings. They meet up the last thursday evening each month. See their website.
